Zoé Tullen

Zoé Tullen’s residency project in HART HAUS reads the body as a composite assemblage of representations, histories, tissues, signals and codes, much like an electronic circuit. Her practice, built on an experimental and subjective reading of technology, makes invisible systems perceptible, while her research brings back the ghost bodies behind the machines, underlining power and gender dynamics at play.

In Hong Kong, in dialogue with Videotage, she will study a lineage of women who assemble our electronic infrastructure since the mid-90’s, the dagongmei of Shenzhen. Her residency research means to explore the reality of these invisible bodies on the production line, mirrored by the administrative bodies assembled by surveillance tools and tracked in the public space. In Hong Kong, she will nourish a toolbox of images, sounds and components for future production.

About the Artist

Born in 1993 in Geneva, Zoé Tullen lives and work in Marseille (Sissi Club Studio).

‘Zoé Tullen's art practice is inspired by the observation that machines, along with women, are subject to patriarchy through shared mechanisms. Whether in virtual or physical volumes, her three-dimensional work reveals precisely the objectification suffered by these two human and non-human groups. The evolving Motherlode series (2022–ongoing) focuses on the historical relationship between women and electronic programming devices.

While 1980s feminist artists asserted their gendered place in and thanks to technological media, Zoé Tullen is now reflecting on the abolition of gender as a means of emancipation. Simultaneously sculptural and pictorial, analogue and digital, as well as non-binary, her pieces also open up the binary dimension of computer language to other horizons. The artist seeks to introduce affect and subjectivity into the technological universe, tools with which women and queer people have not only resisted but also freed themselves from the shackles of male domination.’ Text by Claire Contamine for 67th Salon de Montrouge

Zoé graduated from École des Arts Décoratifs de Paris. Her work has been recognised by several major platforms for emerging artists, including the Prix Utopi·e (4th edition laureate, 2025), Salon de Montrouge (67th edition, 2023) and Jungkunst (16th edition, 2022). Her recent collective and solo exhibitions include 193 Gallery, Paris (2026), Art Genève (2026), Centre Wallonie Bruxelles (2025), AtelierHaus du Canton de Genève, Berlin (2025), One Gee in Fog, Genève (2025), Hiflow, Genève (2024), Espace Le Carré, Lille (2024), Galerie Dix9, Paris (2024), Galerie du Crous de Paris (2023).

About the Residency

Micromégas is a media art residency organised by cneai= and Videotage in partnership with HART HAUS, with the support of the Consulate General of France in Hong Kong and Macau. Designed as a recurring programme since 2021, the residency features an annual theme that fosters deeper cultural exchange between France and Hong Kong.

With the focus on the intersection of body and technology, 2026’s edition will bring together two artists for a cross-cultural exchange between Paris and Hong Kong to explore how technologies shape perception and embodiment. With HART HAUS as Residency Partner in Hong Kong, the programme will bring Zoé Tullen (Marseille) to Hong Kong for a cross cultural exchange in Hong Kong.
