Media Art Curator and Producer, Programme Director of Microwave Festival, Founder of SIBYLS
Joel Kwong, a media art curator & producer, currently the programme director of Microwave (www.microwavefest.net), an annual media art festival in Hong Kong and also the founder of SIBYLS, an art x tech consultation & production agency. She has years of media art experience from research, curation to production; most recent projects include the Pluriversal Futures (Co-curated with Ars Electronica Export Team) (Hong Kong), Microwave Festival 2025 (Hong Kong), Arts Tech 3.0 – The Light House (Hong Kong), Through the Lens of (Chengdu), Daito Manabe & Maywa Denki Performance at TTXC 2024 (Kaohsiung) etc. During 2020 to 2022, her research focused on Media Archaeology and Media Art Development in HK, which three pilot projects have been produced include Connecting the Dots, Reimagines Heritage and A.T. Network, engaged over 45 HK Arts & Tech practitioners.
She has been giving talks and lectures in different festivals and institutions, includes Shenzhen Media Art Festival, ACT Festival in Gwangju, the University of Eletro-communications in Tokyo, FILMART, Entertainment EXPO in Hong Kong, TTXC Kaohsiung etc. Currently, she is also teaching degree & master courses relates to curation, media theories, museum studies in various institutions, e.g., CityU, Baptist U, PolyU, Lingnan U etc. in Hong Kong.
