Scattered throughout Hong Kong’s urban constructions are small "sitting-out areas”. Those interstitial spaces are remnants amidst rigid, rectilinear forms, serving as pauses between zones of purely functional utility. Place a bench, plant a few white champak trees, and erect a streetlamp. An impromptu network for rest, open to all, is woven into existence. Overlapping figures come and go, sharing a space that straddles the public and the private. In the study of lingering, a dancer’s body immerses in the spontaneous web of coexistence, touching each passing figure, then, after all, returning to the self.
遍佈香港城市構築中的零碎「休憩處」，那些方正線條中殘餘的夾縫，是實用價值「之間」的停頓。擺一張長凳，種幾株白蘭，立一盞路燈，一張可供眾生徘徊的即興網絡便織成了。重疊的身影來來去去，共處於公共與私密之間。在這場休憩練習中，舞者用身體潛入即興的共存之網，觸碰每一個身影，再回歸自己。

About the Artist 關於藝術家
Melody Qingmei Li works with materiality and alternative narratives. She constantly edits and translates threads of memories and the present, some of which grow into forms of writing while others are woven into various media. She builds multisensory environments, constructs reflective sculptural paintings, publishes artist books, and hosts workshops. Li treats artistic practice as simple daily exercises to resist the spreading of amnesia and aphasia, sourcing possibilities for moments of resonance. She is intrigued by liminal spaces between the natural and the artificial, the body and the mind, and the individual and the system. Environments, the body, and connections between and beyond are the key subject matters to contemplate in flowing identities.
Her work has been shown at HART HAUS (Hong Kong), Floating Projects (Hong Kong), JCCAC Gallery (Hong Kong), PLATESPACE (Beijing), and Prague Art Week (Prague). Her debut solo exhibition in 2025, “my gaze is as clear as your breath” at Square Street Gallery in Hong Kong, consolidated reflections of her long-term collective body map project, anchored in self-observation ritual and collective knowledge generation. Li was awarded the Emerging Artists Development Grant and Cultural Exchange Grant by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council. She has been the recipient of Studio Grants at HART HAUS in Hong Kong since 2024.
Li obtained her BA in Art History and Finance from the College of William and Mary and her MFA in Creative Media from the City University of Hong Kong. The artist currently lives and works in Hong Kong.
李清美的作品關注物質性與另類敘事。她於記憶與當下之間編輯轉譯，有些成文，有些線頭則織入豐富媒介之中，如圖像光影或物件雕塑。她創建多感官環境裝置、製作具反思性的雕塑與繪畫混合體、出版藝術家書籍，並舉辦公共工作坊。她視創作為日復一日的簡單耕作，以此抵抗失憶與失語的病毒蔓延，亦是為共鳴的瞬間埋下種子。自然與人造、肉體與思維、個體與系統中的臨界空間令她著迷。
她的作品曾於HART HAUS（香港）、據點。句點（香港）、賽馬會創意藝術中心藝廊（香港）、盤子空間（北京）及布拉格藝術周（布拉格）等空間展出。她於2025年在香港 Square Street Gallery 舉辦首次個展《我的目光清澈如你的呼吸》，展覽整合了她長期進行的共身圖項目之反思成果，以自我觀察儀式與協同知識生成為核心脈絡。李氏曾入選香港藝術發展局的新苗發展資助計劃與文化交流計劃資助。她已連續兩年獲選香港HART HAUS 工作室資助。
她在威廉瑪麗學院獲得藝術史和金融學士雙學位，後於香港城市大學創意媒體學院獲得藝術碩士學位。藝術家目前生活和工作於香港。
About the Dancer 關於舞者
Fonteyn Ho Fong Ting is a Hong Kong-based dancer and choreographer. She graduated from The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, majoring in Contemporary Dance with a second major in Choreography, and was the recipient of the Contemporary Dance Faculty Scholarship 2020/21. With a diverse movement background spanning Chinese dance, Latin dance, street dance and contemporary dance, she has been actively involved in dance, theatre, concerts, installation art and interdisciplinary performances. She has worked with Y-Space, local creative collective Room 712, and various arts festival productions.
She also participated in dance motion data collection for a research project related to HKBU's Al Lab, contributing movement data to studies on artificial intelligence and dance creation. Her artistic practice explores the relationship between body, space, technology and perception, investigating the fluid connections between performers, objects, environments and audiences.
何芳婷 Fonteyn Ho，香港本地舞者及編舞，畢業於香港演藝學院，主修現代舞，副修編舞，並曾獲2020/21當代舞蹈學院獎學金。她的舞蹈背景橫跨中國舞、拉丁舞、街舞及當代舞，近年活躍於舞蹈、劇場、音樂會、裝置藝術及跨媒介演出，曾參與 Y-Space、本地創作團體 Room 712及多個藝術節製作。
她亦曾參與香港浸會大學 Al Lab 相關舞蹈動態數據採集項目，為人工智能與舞蹈創作研究提供身體動作資料。其創作關注身體、空間、科技與感知之間的關係，透過表演者與物件、環境及觀眾的互動，探索身體在當代藝術語境中的流動性與想像。
