About the Exhibition 關於展覽
Since 2018, HART seeks to tell a story of incubation in the postmodern world, philosophically of how a diversity of human experience and multiplicity of perspectives developed through the lens of interdisciplinary and multicultural art practices as a sustainable approach to local contemporary art ecology of the 21st century visual culture. “Postmodern Tales” brings together an international group of artists and creators currently based in Hong Kong, from the new-generation artists, scientist, architects, designers to authors, showcasing new interdisciplinary works and artist-made publications. The exhibited works reflect the experimental spirit that distinguishes HART as a creative platform: In the search for possibilities and alternatives, we shall not give contemporary art a definition but move beyond existing trajectories. The exhibition also connects Hong Kong artists who operate private studios with HART’s artists-in-residence as part of an ongoing investigation of how individualist or incubative approaches contribute to contemporary art ecology. We believe these artists’ concepts and expressions illuminate the workings of their studio environments at the level of co-working or self-run structures.
HART sets out to broader conversations on contemporary artistic developments, our values and the synergy created by our various projects propel the birth of new junctures and possibilities. Our Social Studio cultivates imagination building from diasporic experiences, and encourages the shaping of artistic practices and identities through organic exchanges. “Postmodern Tales” is a reflection of HART’s vision—it is an illuminating showcase that probes into histories, personal memories and locality through experimental captures, bringing contexts of culture and identity formation to light.
自2018年以來，HART的使命力圖講述一個關於二十一世紀視覺文化中如何培育和發展可持續的本地當代藝術生態故事，並通過後現代社會的多元文化和跨媒介藝術實踐開啟討論。「後現代小傳」展出的跨媒介作品及藝術家製作的出版物，分別是香港當代藝術家和創作者的近期創作，包括新生代藝術家、科學家、建築師、設計師及寫作家。展出作品反映了HART作為一個創意平台所特有的實驗精神。在尋找可能性和另類觀點的過程中，我們不會給當代藝術一個定義，而是超越現有的軌跡。展覽亦將經營個人工作室的香港藝術家與HART的駐場藝術家聯繫起來，考察以獨立發展或持續培育的方面促進當代藝術生態。跨越視覺藝術和設計的各種媒介，我們相信這些藝術家的概念和表達方式分別在共同工作或自營結構的層面上，均可彰顯出他們的工作室狀態和運作情況。
HART致力於打開和擴闊當代藝術發展的對話，因為我們相信HART的核心價值和我們各個項目所帶來的複合作用，推動了新的契機和無限的可能性。我們的匯舍項目從流散的經歷中激發想像力，並鼓勵通過有機的交流塑造藝術實踐和身份形塑。從香港內外的歷史和個人記憶中蒐集的研究和故事出發，尤其是本土性、場域特定和實驗性的深刻見解，我們期望將文化和身份形塑成的脈絡展現出來，並履行我們對本地藝術和文化界的承諾。
