HART Visiting Artist-in-Residence 藝術家駐留計劃 - Bunny Cadag

We are delighted to share that Bunny Cadag, the final artist presenting live work for the exhibition ‘The Embrace and the Passage’, is hosted by HART for an artist residency in collaboration with Para Site.

During her residency, Cadag will conduct field research, including community engagement and workshops, to enrich her practice in pre- and postcolonial gender plurality, singing rituals, and healing. Often participatory and community-based, her work amplifies marginalised voices while navigating forms and spaces with empathy and generosity.

Join us this February for a series of programmes leading up to the exhibition closing—stay tuned for details and registration!

"INWEAVE" – Performance and Sharing by Artist-in-Residence Sara Lanner

(活動詳情請參閱以下英文介紹)

We are delighted to invite you to an evening with visiting artist Sara Lanner (b. 1991, Austria), concluding her one-month residency at HART Social Studio.

As a visual artist and choreographer, Lanner uses the body to engage performance art as an architectural medium, translating different functions of spaces–used or abandoned, power dynamics within certain usage by communities, and as the centre of collective thoughts for framing diverse personalities. The performance INWEAVE demonstrates Lanner’s interim research in Hong Kong, followed by an artist-led sharing session. “Interweave” as a recurring subject in her performances, Lanner’s choreography combines histories of locality, found materials from the everyday, and her cultural experiences/clashes during the research process. Lanner therefore tries to pose a question: how can art deconstruct social conventions, while reconstructing them with care and social justice, promoting positive impacts for the future?

Date: 29 Dec 2022, Thurs
Time: 7:30-8:30pm (15-min performance, followed by artist’s presentation and roundtable sharing with the audience)
Location: HART Haus

This event will be facilitated in English.

HART Hub #13: “Out of Syllabus Salon" with Law Man Lok 羅文樂「化外沙龍—東歐文藝二三事」

A salon is not a teaching course, but a cultural gathering for sharing ideas and making friends of similar interests. This salon will be led by guest art practitioners to share topics ranging from Kazimir Malevich’s Suprematism, Czech New Wave films, and the fictions of Bruno Schulz. This will be a cosy gathering for all-levels and all will co-learn during discussions. HART x HKAS | Sharing Session - Approaches to the Archive: Three Perspectives

HART and Hong Kong Archives Society proudly presents - ‘Approaches to the Archive: Three Perspectives’, a sharing session to examine different approaches to manage, use and work with archives across various sectors.

We have the pleasure to be able to invite three professionals to share their experience with us: Sjoerd Hoekstra from Design For Culture Limited, Angharad McCarrick from M+ Museum, and Jenny Yu from HSBC Archives. Spanning from the creative and design sector, to art and cultural institutions, as well as international commercial and financial companies, how are the designs, functionalities and maintenance of their archives different? Why do we need these archives, and how can this bring insights to the management of data and records in our daily lives?

HART/Beat Sharing #3 | On Art Adminstration & Management (Re-run)

Quite a few established institutions in Hong Kong have addressed the needs for professional training for individuals, who are interested to learn the role of art administrator and art managers, but there are very few continuous discussions and explorations for such demands. For this very brief 105 minutes encounter that we are to co-create at HART Haus, let us discover a few aspects of this subject matter:

  • How ‘all-rounded’ should an art administrator/manager be – and why the role is expected to perform in such a way?

  • How many types of art administrators/ managers are there in Hong Kong? – A general overview

  • The myths of the art world in the eyes of an art manager – let us start with a keyword hunting game

HART Hub#3 | A SHARING BY ART PRACTITIONERS IN HONG KONG

As the arts and cultural scene in Hong Kong proliferates, it has never been an easy journey for many local practitioners in the field. No matter whether you are an artist, an art administrator, or a representative from an art initiative/non-profit organisation, one needs to pass through many hurdles in order to see the fruits ripen. From content creation, seeking resources, to planning and execution of cultural events, as well as maintaining different kinds of spaces/institutions/organisations, how do we survive for the identities and roles we chose to take for ourselves? What are our priorities and values?

HART has the pleasure to be able to invite three insiders of the field to share with us their own stories and lessons learnt. Speakers of the evening include:

  • Jaime Chong, independent artist in Hong Kong, currently participant of our Social Studio project (Hausian)

  • Susi Law, cultural engineer of Art & Cultural Outreach, also an artist and curator

  • Jeannie Wu, director of HART Collective, also director of Hong Kong Archives Society, arts advisor
